Wat Yai Chai- mongkol. At one time, in the bot ( convocation hall), Prince Thian-raja sought to learn his luck through the ordeal of the lighted candles before he dethroned Khun Vora- wogsa. On another occasion, Prince Srl-silp consulted the head of the monastery about a favourable moment for overthrowing King Maha Chakraphat in 1561 A.D. It is still popular with locals and tourists asking for blessings. Behind the hall sat a real life replica of a monk. I dont know the name though. It was apparently so life liked that Wenqi thought a real monk was sitting there.  Posted by Picasa
